A historic grant for the art of tomorrow

Godecharle supports young artists and architects at a time when their practice can grow, shift, or break open internationally.

For over 150 years, the fund has given talent the space to travel, research, develop new work, and deepen their own artistic language. What started as a historic grant remains an active springboard for the next generation of Belgian art today.

What Godecharle does

The Godecharle Fund supports young artists and architects in architecture, painting, and sculpture. Through the Godecharle Competition, laureates receive a grant to further develop their artistic careers.

The grant is not only a recognition of what already exists, but above all an investment in what can still emerge: new work, new encounters, new contexts, and a broader view of the world.

A bursary as a springboard

The Godecharle Competition awards young artists and architects with a grant that gives them the opportunity to further develop their practice.

The grant can provide space for international study trips, research, encounters, deepening, or the development of new work.

In this way, Godecharle not only supports today's talent, but also the artistic voices that will help shape the direction of Belgian art tomorrow.
